Here are some SAMPLE BONUS “A” words that are not in Grandma’s books but are in the videos. You should be able to quickly learn to read these words because they follow the same patterns that you have learned. Be sure that you are able to use these words in a sentence. If you do not know the meaning of a word, remember to look it up in the dictionary or ask for help.

WORD SEARCHES
These SAMPLE word searches are based on the words in Grandma’s A series books. There are normally 5 searches for each letter combination and some puzzles include review words. None of the words are diagonal or backwards and they do not overlap. Have the students circle the words that they find and then write them at the bottom of the page. How many words can they find? The puzzles are in the same order as you would find the words in Grandma’s books.

CROSSWORD PUZZLES
These SAMPLE picture crossword puzzles are based on the words in Grandma’s A series books. There are normally 4 picture crossword puzzles for each letter combination and puzzles often include review words. Use the puzzles to review words, to practice writing/spelling, and for comprehension. The puzzles are in the same order as you would find the words in Grandma’s books.
